Dr. Zenaida (Zeny) Sumalde is a Retired Professor and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Economics, College of Economics and Management, University of the Philippines Los Baños. She served as Director of the Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED) from January 2, 2013 to May 31, 2017, Chair of the Department of Economics from May 16, 1993 to May 15, 1996 and Deputy Director of the Regional Training Programme on Food and Nutrition Planning, a Programme funded by the Netherlands Government through the Netherlands Universities Foundation for International Cooperation (NUFFIC), from June 1990 to December 31, 2000. She is also a member of the technical Working Group (TWG) of the UPLB-Interdisciplinary Center for Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management. Dr. Sumalde, obtained her BS in Agriculture major in Agricultural Economics, MS in Agricultural Economics and PhD in Agricultural Economics from the University of the Philippines Los Baños, the latter with course works taken from Purdue University, USA. She also attended a post-doctoral enrichment course in environmental economics from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada.
