MARLO D. MENDOZA, MM
Dean Marlo D. Mendoza is Associate Professor at the Department of Social Forestry and Forest Governance, UPLB. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and obtained his Master in Development Management degree from the Asian Institute of Management. His career spans over 35 years with engagements in the private sector, the academe and the government bureaucracy. He headed the ABS-CBN Foundation’s Development Programs and later the Bantay Kalikasan as Program Director. He joined the CFNR as faculty member, and later was appointed Associate Dean. He served the Department of Environment and Natural Resources on various secondment capacities as Forest Management Bureau Director, Regional Director, Assistant Secretary, and Undersecretary. His expertise includes forest governance, social forestry, nature tourism, forest restoration, and industrial tree plantation.

Research for Development: Payment for Ecosystem Services Outcome for Sustainable Water Provision (R4D: PESO SWaP) in Barobbob Watershed, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines
This action research will design a PES mechanism that is specific to the needs and context of the Barobbob watershed stakeholders to be successful and contribute to the enrichment of the PES experience in the Philippines.

Assessment of Payment for Water Ecosystem Service (P-WES) Initiatives Towards the Development of a Philippine PES Protocol
PES schemes are policy instruments designed to enhance ecosystem goods and services by linking ecosystem users and beneficiaries to environmental service providers through payment options and voluntary arrangements.

This project will provide maps of vulnerabilities and risks of the province based on different scenarios. Impacts of forest fragmentation in relation to multi-hazard vulnerability including the complications of Covid-19 will be investigated.
