Dr. Jovita L. Movillon (BS Sugar Technology ’73; MS ‘77 and PhD ‘86) has been serving UP for almost 50 years starting with the former Sugar Technology Program (under CA, and CSH). CEAT was established on Feb. 24, 1983, along with the Department of Chemical Engineering (initially formed out of the STP’s faculty, staff and other resources). She had post-graduate training in sugar factories; an 8-month JICA training in Japan; conducted chemical engineering research as a DOST-JSPS Exchange Scientist, Tokyo Institute of Technology (one month each:1992-1999). Her research works involve bioethanol/ biodiesel; Sugar Technology; waste management in the sugar factories.
