Ms. KATRINA KENDALL
Doctoral Researcher, University of Oxford (United Kingdom)

Ms. Katrina Kendall is an international environmental advocate and scientist passionate about sustainable development and innovation to help people and the planet thrive. She has worked with corporations, government agencies and NGOs internationally and in the Philippines to achieve this goal. She is a recipient of the Leaders for Social Impact award by the British Council and selected a Voice for ASEAN Biodiversity, by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity. Katrina conducts interdisciplinary research at the Nature-based Solutions Initiative at the University of Oxford on the nexus of climate, biodiversity, and development, on nature-based solutions in tropical regions in Southeast Asia, with a focus on the Philippines. There she leads the NbS in the Philippines project, that aims to foster transformative change by providing evidence to support policy and practice to tackle our ecological and climate crises and improve human wellbeing. Her background is a decade of international experience in consulting across sustainability and technology, having worked and completed projects in Hong Kong, the Philippines, Laos, Singapore, Switzerland, UK, and the US. She holds an MChem (Hons) in Environmental and Sustainable Chemistry from the University of Edinburgh, with research conducted at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland. Katrina is also completing her PhD at the Department of Biology at the University of Oxford. 

Dr. REX VICTOR O. CRUZ
Professor Emeritus, UP Los Baños

Dr. Rex Victor O. Cruz is a renowned expert in watershed management and climate change adaptation. His expertise and research interests include ecosystem and landscape planning and management, upland development, and integrated natural resources management. He was a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the United Nations that won the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former US Vice President Al Gore. He served as a principal lead author and convening lead author of the Assessment of Climate Change Impacts and Adaptation, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Second, Third, and Fourth Assessment Reports.

Dr. CANESIO D. PREDO
Professor, UP Los Baños

He was a John Dillon Fellow – Philippines (2021) of the Australian Center for International and Agricultural Research (ACIAR). He was a former senior research officer and senior economist of the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA). He holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, with specialization in natural resource and environmental economics, and a Master of Science in Environmental Studies from UPLB. His research interests include forestry economics and policy, agricultural economics, ecosystem accounting, environmental and natural resource valuation, payment for ecosystem services, and economics of climate change. Dr. Predo has worked extensively with various national and international organizations and funding agencies on a wide range of natural resource and environmental issues. He was also involved in various research collaborations at the local, national, and international levels and has published papers in the field of environment and natural resources management

Dr. ASA JOSE U. SAJISE
Professor, UP Los Baños

Dr. Asa Jose U. Sajise is a Professor at the Department of Economics, College of Economics and Management, UPLB. His fields of interest include natural resource and environmental economics, bio-economic modeling, environmental valuation, applied econometrics, impact evaluation. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the UPLB. His degrees in Master of Science and Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics were both obtained from the University of California Berkeley.

Assoc. Prof. Marlo D. Mendoza
Dean, UPLB College of Forestry and Natural Resources

Dean Marlo D. Mendoza is the current Dean of the College of Forestry and Natural
Resources and an Associate Professor at the Department of Social Forestry and Forest
Governance, CFNR, UPLB. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Forestry from
the University of the Philippines Los Baños and obtained his Master in Development
Management degree from the Asian Institute of Management. His career spans over
35 years with engagements in the private sector, the academe and the government
bureaucracy. He headed the ABS-CBN Foundation’s Development Programs and later
the Bantay Kalikasan as Program Director. He joined the CFNR as faculty member, and
later was appointed Associate Dean. He served the Department of Environment and
Natural Resources on various secondment capacities as Forest Management Bureau
Director, Regional Director, Assistant Secretary, and Undersecretary. His expertise
includes forest governance, social forestry, nature tourism, forest restoration, and
industrial tree plantation

Dr. JUAN M. PULHIN
Chair, UPLB-INREM

Dr. Juan M. Pulhin is a Full Professor and former Dean of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB). He has achieved the distinguished rank of UP Scientist III, a status he has maintained since 2011, in recognition of his outstanding scholarly contributions and his esteemed international reputation. For the past decade, Dr. Pulhin has led the University of the Philippines Los Baños Interdisciplinary Studies Center for Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management (UPLB-INREM). Under his stewardship, this center has evolved from a modest virtual entity to a widely acclaimed physical hub that conducts pioneering research, development initiatives, and public service projects in the field of integrated natural resources and environmental management.

The 4th International Conference on Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management or INREM 2023 is organized by the UPLB Interdisciplinary Studies Center for Integrated Natural Resources and Environment Management or UPLB-INREM, University of the Philippines Los Baños, UPLB College of Forestry and Natural Resources, and UP Resilience Institute.
