Dr. Rose Jane J. Peras
ROSE JANE J. PERAS, PhD
Dr. Rose Jane J. Peras is a Professor at the Department of Social Forestry and Forest Governance, College of Forestry and Natural Resources. She is currently the Chair of the Department of Social Forestry and Forest Governance at the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of the Philippines Los Baños. Her areas of specialization include forest governance, social forestry, community-based natural resources management, watershed management, and human dimension of climate change. She has been involved in various research projects on climate change adaptation, resilience building, climate risk resilience, and vulnerability assessment and watershed management planning. Dr. Peras holds a PhD degree in Forest Governance from the University of Tokyo; MS in Forestry major in Social Forestry and BS in Forestry from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. She teaches undergraduate courses on forest community development, principles and concepts of social forestry, approaches to forest conservation, forest policy and institution, and political economy and administration, among others. She also handles graduate courses on culture and societies in tropical forest ecosystems and governance framework for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. Being involved in several research projects and having authored/co-authored numerous journal articles, book chapters and books, Dr. Peras was a recipient of the 2020 Outstanding Researcher Award, given by the College of Forestry and Natural Resources, UPLB.

This project will provide maps of vulnerabilities and risks of the province based on different scenarios. Impacts of forest fragmentation in relation to multi-hazard vulnerability including the complications of Covid-19 will be investigated.
